Our
purpose and objective is to establish an organization that will
meet the needs of goat owners and their herds by:
1.
Providing a forum for the exchange of information and ideas on
goats.
2.
Cooperation in coordinating marketing assistance.
3.
Serve as a source of information about goats.
4.
Work with 4-H, FFA, and local agencies to promote goat projects
and enterprises.

The
directors are in the process of finalizing plans for regional meetings.
Tentatively, District 1 will center around the Oblong/Robinson area and
District 2 will be in the Mt. Vernon/Fairfield area. A member may
attend a meeting in any region. Watch the website for meetings in
your area or just one you would like to attend. There is a
possibility of a district developing in Indiana and Missouri. If you would like a
district centered nearer your area, contact a director for more details.

MWGP member, James Brown, has a new
forum up called "The Goat Barn"
http://www.thegoatbarn.com .
He also has one for Hay at
http://www.haytalk.com/forums/index.php for those
that grow their own hay. They plan to be adding a blog
and a chat box to The GoatBarn like HayTalk has in the
near future.
There is also a "For Sale" section to
sell and a "Wanted" section for things people are
looking for out there. This can be used for animals and
equipment. The site will also provide a section with
links to member farms if they desire for no charge, once
they have some. They will put up ads for farm/ranch
related businesses that would like to run an ad. Those
will have a charge and "The Goat Barn" will donate 10%
of the profit from the ads to the Midwest Goat
Producers. Also, any association members with a feed
business or equipment business will receive an ad
discount if they wish to place an ad.
